Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data we collect when you use the Besterra website, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights available to you.
Last updated23 July 2026
Scope of this policy
This policy applies to the public Besterra website and to the forms available on it: the contact form and the documentary story submission form.
The site requires no account, we collect no payment data, and we use no advertising or tracking tools.
Information we collect
We collect only the data you voluntarily send us through the forms, plus a limited set of technical details recorded with each submission:
- Contact form: full name, company or organisation, country, email address, WhatsApp number, request type, timeframe, budget range, and the details of your request.
- Story form: full name, your role or relation to the story, phone number, email address (optional), country or city, and the story details, available materials and links.
- Technical data: the IP address and browser user agent recorded at the time of submission, used to protect against abuse.
- Your appearance preference (light or dark) is stored locally in your browser and is never sent to us.
Why we collect it
We collect your data for one clear purpose: to respond to what you sent us. The lawful bases for processing are taking steps at your request prior to entering into an agreement, our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the site, and the consent you give when submitting a form.
How we use it
We use what you send within the following limits only:
- Reviewing your request or story and contacting you about it.
- Assessing whether a story submitted through the story form is suitable for documentary development.
- Protecting the site against automated submissions and abuse.
- We do not sell, rent or share your data for marketing purposes, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
Data retention
We keep data for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for: handling your request or evaluating your story and following up on any collaboration that results.
Once that purpose ends, the data is deleted or anonymised, unless a legal or accounting obligation requires us to retain it for longer. You may request deletion of your data at any time.
Third-party services
To operate the site we rely on infrastructure, hosting and email providers. They process data on our behalf, only on our instructions, and under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
Data may be processed or stored outside your country of residence; where that happens we put appropriate safeguards in place for the transfer. We add no third-party advertising or analytics trackers to this site.
Security
All data is transmitted over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access is limited to the people who need it to do their work. We also apply request rate limits and validation measures to protect against automated submissions.
While we take appropriate measures to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet can be guaranteed absolutely secure. Please do not send highly sensitive information through the forms; if your story involves information needing special protection, say so and the team will arrange a suitable channel.
Your rights
Subject to applicable data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data and obtain a copy of it.
- Have inaccurate data corrected, or incomplete data completed.
- Request erasure of your data, or restriction of its processing.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
- Lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority; in the United Kingdom this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Children's privacy
This site and its forms are intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a minor has submitted data through the site, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services or in legal requirements. The date of the most recent update appears at the top of this page, and continuing to use the site after an update is published constitutes acceptance of the revised version.
